Working in the Central Duty Function at Unifeeder
As the Central Duty Function Manager, you will lead and develop a team of Marine Operators to ensure efficient and coordinated 24/7 marine operations across hybrid environments. Your role is crucial in enabling operational excellence and efficiency.
The preferred location for this position is our office in Gdynia, Poland. Some travel is expected (est. 5-10 days annually). We are seeking candidates who are already based in Poland. You will be reporting to the Local Operations Director.

Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 15 Marine Operators and 1 Shift Planner to ensure seamless duty coverage and operational readiness.
- Drive continuous improvement in operational procedures, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate cross-functional communication and escalation processes to support real-time decision-making.
- Foster a high-performing, inclusive, and collaborative team culture across locations and hybrid settings.
- Monitor and report on operational KPIs, identifying trends and implementing corrective actions where needed.
- Support workforce planning, training, and development to build team capability and resilience.
- Drive project management within the Central Duty Function, ensuring the function optimizes processes and procedures on an ongoing basis.
Who are you?
You may have experience in maritime, shipping, or terminal operations, but this is not required, as we welcome diverse backgrounds and competencies.
You have experience in leading a hybrid team with varying shift patterns and locations.
You are motivated by making autonomous decisions during critical incidents, while escalating strategic issues to the Local Operations Director.
You thrive in a fast-paced environment, navigating cross-functional dependencies and coordinating with external stakeholders.
Additionally, you bring:
- Business Knowledge: You have an understanding of marine operations and duty management and are quick to gain an understanding of the Unifeeder business. You can effectively connect with other department managers and are familiar with regulatory frameworks in maritime environments.
- Essential Functional / Technical Skills: You excel in operational planning and incident response, are proficient in marine communication systems and duty scheduling tools and make data-driven decisions. Proficiency in Excel is one of your strengths.
- Personal Attributes / Competencies: Your strong leadership and team development skills are complemented by excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. You have experience working in hybrid work environments and distance leadership, with the ability to set direction and lead specialist profiles. You remain calm under pressure and are decisive in critical situations.
