Shipping Solutions is looking for a proactive and self-driven team member to join our team in Gdynia, Poland. This role is focused on customs compliance, reporting, and process coordination rather than operational customs clearance.

Working as Customs Expert at Shipping Solutions EAM 

As Customs Expert, reporting to the Customer Service Excellence Director, you will coordinate the implementation of customs requirements and ensure adherence to customs regulations across Europe. The role is centered on compliant processes, reporting requirements, and cross-functional coordination, rather than day-to-day customs clearance execution.

You will play a key role in supporting day-to-day business operations across geographies by acting as a central point of contact for customs-related matters, coordinating with cargo execution teams, business stakeholders, internal IT, and external IT providers.

The role requires a strong understanding of customs procedures, the ability to work independently, and a collaborative mindset to help develop scalable and sustainable customs reporting solutions.

This position is based in our office in Gdynia, Poland. Some travel may be expected depending on business needs.

Key responsibilities 

As Customs Expert, you will:

• Maintain regular contact with national and European customs authorities regarding reporting requirements for cargo carried on DP World Shipping Solutions vessels
• Coordinate with local cargo execution departments to ensure adherence to customs rules and regulations
• Act as a point of contact for local offices in case of customs-related questions or requests
• Represent DP World Shipping Solutions in dealings with customs authorities as the designated point of contact
• Coordinate with internal IT teams on system solutions required for customs reporting
• Coordinate and align customs reporting requirements with external IT providers, such as Descartes
• Gather business and customs requirements across geographies and help translate them into functional solutions
• Support implementation, adoption, and continuous improvement of customs-related processes and reporting solutions

Who are you?

You have solid experience working with customs procedures, ideally with a focus on Poland, whether gained in shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, customs brokerage/agency, or a similar customs-focused environment.

You are motivated to broaden your expertise across other EU countries where DP World Shipping Solutions operates. You are comfortable working independently in a role with a high level of ownership, while also coordinating effectively with different teams and stakeholders. You can connect regulatory requirements with operational needs and help turn them into practical, sustainable solutions.

Additionally, you bring:

• 3–5 years of experience with customs procedures
• Strong knowledge of customs regulations, preferably in Poland
• Readiness to build a similar level of expertise in other EU countries relevant to our business
• The ability to coordinate tasks across different business teams, including IT, cargo execution, and customer-facing functions
• The ability to translate business and customs requirements into functional needs for IT solutions
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• A structured and self-driven way of working, with the ability to work independently
• Proficiency in English at a professional level, both verbal and written
• Polish language skills are required for this role
