Shipping Solutions is looking for an Accounting Manager to lead our Accounting team, Denmark. This role is ideal for a senior finance profile who wants to take full ownership of the accounting area while driving process improvements, strengthening financial controls, and developing a high-performing team.

 

Working in the Accounting Team at Shipping Solutions

As Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for the company’s accounting function and bookkeeping, ensuring that financial processes run efficiently and in compliance with local regulations and international standards. You will lead the accounting team, with 4 direct reports and a total team of approx. 14 members split across 3 locations in Europe, oversee closing and compliance activities, and act as a trusted advisor to senior management on accounting-related matters.

You will play a key role in ensuring strong financial governance, high-quality balance sheet management, and reliable statutory and management reporting. At the same time, you will help drive standardization, simplification, and continuous improvement across the accounting area.

You will work closely with stakeholders across Controlling, Finance Business Partnering, IT, HR, and Management, as well as relevant counterparts across DP World.

 

This is a full-time, on-site position based at our headquarters in Aarhus N, Denmark, relocating to Irmahus, Aarhus Ø, in April 2027. You can expect approximately 10–15 days of travel per year in this role. We are seeking candidates already residing in Denmark.

Key responsibilities 

  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end and year-end closing activities
  • Oversee audit coordination, and ensure compliance with tax, VAT, accounting, and statutory reporting requirements
  • Maintain and strengthen financial controls, reconciliation routines, and accounting processes
  • Partner closely with Controlling and other business stakeholders on reporting, analysis, forecasting, and accounting-related matters
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Accounting team and team leads, ensuring strong performance, clear priorities, and a service-oriented mindset
  • Drive standardization, simplification, and system/process improvements across the accounting area
  • Support business initiatives, projects, and organizational changes from an accounting perspective, ensuring proper financial treatment and controls

 

Who are you?

You have 5–10 years of experience in accounting, preferably from an international organization, and bring a strong understanding of financial processes, compliance, and accounting operations.

You are confident in your technical accounting knowledge and combine this with a structured, pragmatic, and collaborative way of working.

You are an approachable and motivating leader who knows how to create clarity, delegate effectively, and build a strong team culture. At the same time, you are hands-on enough to stay close to the accounting area and support your team in solving complex issues when needed.

We are looking for someone who can create structure in a dynamic environment, communicate clearly with both finance and non-finance stakeholders, and help shape a scalable and efficient accounting setup.

 

Furthermore, we expect you to have:

  • A relevant educational background within finance or accounting, preferably cand.merc. or similar
  • Experience with IFRS and local GAAP
  • Experience with financial controls, reconciliations, reporting, and compliance
  • A curious mindset and interest in standardizing, optimizing, and automating processes
  • A structured and organized way of working, with the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
  • A collaborative and emphatic mindset, with the ability to work effectively across functions and stakeholder groups
  • Professional proficiency in English
  • Preferably experience from shipping or a similar operational industry
  • Preferably experience with NAV / Business Central
