General Manager Shortsea Sales

As a General Manager in Shortsea Sales at our Hamburg office your primary responsibility will be to build a sustainable relationship with customers and suppliers and facilitate effective and proactive execution of booking management and intermodal/customer service delivery. You must ensure a high focus on intermodal solutions and while striving to maximize internal utilization and providing effective customer service.

 

Scope of Your Key Responsibilities

  • Convert overland transportation into multimodal container flows
  • Secure new customers and maintain and develop existing accounts
  • Develop leads into Unifeeder Customers based on the ”Blue Sheet” Sales approach
  • Actively support and challenge the Commercial Director in meeting and exceeding regional commercial targets (Grow, retain and develop)
  • Lead a team of 3 Sales Managers and 1 Operational Key Account Manager
  • Identify, approach and secure target customers
  • Maintain recaps of customer visits and details in our CRM System
  • Conduct regular customer visits in order to validate service levels and open new revenue streams
  • Negotiate with tender accounts as per pricing guidelines and strive for maximizing contribution
  • Follow up on customer communications in a timely and professional manner
  • Promote Unifeeder Shortsea services at public events and fairs
  • Attend monthly reporting meetings with the Commercial Director
  • Closely cooperate with corporate tender management
  • Monitor competition activities
  • Develop and execute ”go-to-market” strategies for target areas
  • Participate in corporate projects
  • Area sales responsibility for United Kingdom and Germany (plus associated markets such as Austria and Switzerland)
  •  

    Your Profile

  • Freight forwarder background and Bachelor degree is preferred
  • 7-10 years sales experience in forwarding or logistics
  • Leadership skills + experience
  • Proven track record in B2B Sales
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation and deal closing skills
  • Good knowledge of the CEU intermodal market
  • Accuracy with numbers, good understanding of basic financial reporting
  • Hardworking and stress-resistant character
  • Good command of Excel and PPT
  • Good command of English
  • Availability for business travel
  • Self-driven, motivated and ambitious personality
