St Petersburg - handling of empty containers at the FCT terminal effective 01.10.2006
Print

The new procedure for handling of empty export units at the FCT terminal is effective as from 01.10.2006.

Whereas it has until this date been possible to route pre-nominated empty export units for a specific feeder department directly from gate into the export stack of that specific feeder, thus paying the normal THC rate, the new procedure makes it compulsory for all empty export units to move first via a temporary depot area at FCT before being re-positioned into the export stacks of the specific feeders.

The capacity of this depot area is restricted by FCT on a per-user basis, by implementing quotas that, due to their relative size, require individual reviews.

For these extra moves and extra transport, FCT will, also compulsory, invoice Unifeeder for every empty export unit on our feeders with a surcharge which in our previous news letter dated 17.08.2006 was indicated to be USD 65.00 plus VAT. However, we are pleased to advise that we have been able to negotiate a reduction of the mentioned surcharge and it will now be USD 35.00 plus 18% VAT – total USD 41.30, which we will pass on to our customers together with the normal THC rate.

Acceptance of empty containers in addition to the mentioned quota is subject to final approval by FCT. Containers accepted in addition to the quota will be invoiced locally in St Petersburg with a fee of USD 8 per teu per day plus 18% VAT – total USD 9.44.

Further, to facilitate the picking up and transport in due time from the depot area into the export stacks, FCT will request Unifeeder to issue full lists of empty export units to be loaded on a specific feeder 3-4 days before the physical arrival. This obviously means that we will have to obtain firm and hereafter irrevocable bookings from our customers for empty export units before this deadline.

If for any reason bookings are changed and/or cancelled after the mentioned deadline, Unifeeder must be compensated.

Unifeeder offer services from other terminals such as Petrolesport and Moby Dik, Kronstadt, for possible and alternative evacuation of empty containers to our customers' terminals in Hamburg, Bremerhaven and Rotterdam.
