Update on the possible strike in Finland - continued
Print

Friday the 26th of February the Finnish Transport Workers’ Union AKT and the Finnish Port Operators Association met to continue negotiations in connection to the declared strike on the 4th of March, 2010.

Unfortunately, the parties failed to reach an agreement, and thus, it is very likely that the declared strike will go into effect.

The negotiations continue today, however as of yet, there is no news regarding the outcome. Moreover, negotiations regarding a possible strike among truck- and bus drivers are also taking place today. We expect to receive news in the matter later today. Following this meeting, negotiations related to stevedoring will be initiated.

It should, however, be noted that the possible strike among icebreaker crews that are members of the Finnish Seamen’s Union, is called off.

We assure you that Unifeeder is taking all necessary precautions in order to discharge and load maximum volume prior to the possible strike, and we are doing everything in our power to ensure that you receive the best service possible.
