Delays in Rotterdam
Print

In the past week we have been facing some serious operational delays at Euromax and ECT Delta terminals in Rotterdam causing both delays and short shipments of cargo to and from the Baltic and Scandinavian countries.

Throughout the weekend we have experienced delays from 12 to 36 hours on both north and southbound services, and there is no indication of an improvement of this during the next few days.

We are doing our utmost to secure the best possible service under the given circumstances, but based on the present performance of the terminals in Rotterdam we are unfortunately not able to maintain our planned schedule.

The developments warrant the pooling of a number of our services and it should be noted that we cannot guarantee that standard connections will be maintained. Moreover, we are also facing additional costs as a result of our vessels laying idle in Rotterdam for a longer period of time, increases in bunker consumption as slow steaming is not possible and overtime costs in the wayports.

We understand from the ECT and EUROMAX management that the present situation is caused by a lack of manpower and increased volumes. This combined with delayed ocean liners is causing volume peaks exceeding the capacity and as of yet there is no information on how long this situation will be in effect.

Please contact your local Unifeeder office for specific information on how the delays affect our various services.
