Unifeeder has voiced our concern on several occasions regarding the terminal situation in St Petersburg. We continuously see containers remaining at the terminals – even cargo that already has been cleared through customs.
It is critical for all parties that containers are removed from the terminals quickly after discharge in order to set free space and resources for new incoming dry and reefer shipments.
The well-known limitations put upon us as a feeder carrier, in connection with the quota systems implemented by the terminals in St Petersburg, have a significant impact on our ability to utilize our capacity in full. As a consequence of this and with the specific aim of facilitating the removal of containers from the terminals, we will with effect from 15.08.2008 adjust the Longstanding Fee programme originally implemented on 01.03.2007 as follows:
If import containers are stored for more than ten days, following the day of discharge, a one-off fee of EUR 250 per container will be applicable.
If storage also exceeds 15 days, another one-off time fee of EUR 125 per container will be applicable.
For every five extra storage days exceeding 20, an additional fee of EUR 125 per container will be applicable.
The fee(s) will be invoiced locally in St Petersburg to the party to whom the container will be finally released.
We trust that our customers agree with the above necessary measures which are implemented solely to protect the growing volumes and to improve the throughput at the terminals. In this way, we are able to ensure that sufficient capacity is available at all times.
