Environmentally sound

In today's world a committed environmental policy is called for and Unifeeder actively supports measures aimed at reducing pollution and environmental problems.

Including the following initiatives:

  • Increased fleet capacity has been reached by chartering new and larger vessels in order to minimize the bunker consumption per transported unit.
  • The latest new vessels taken on charter are constructed to give further environmental precautions against pollution by having special zinc-free, antifouling underwater paint, no bunker tanks in the double bottom of the vessel, advanced integrated waste treatment and waste separation systems.
  • Utilisation of imbalances of container flows by means of transferring European cargo from road transportation to door-door vessel container transport. The added effect is that the empty positioning of containers is reduced.
  • Training programmes for general cargo handling (including IMDG cargo) ensure that any transport is carried out according to all national and international regulations.
  • Special “European Emergency Response Systems” for customers with IMDG cargo which ensure communication night and day between persons in charge at UniFeeder, shippers and consignees.
  • Unifeeder supports and participates in examinations and development of bunker technology, transport engineering and logistics systems.
As a container feeder company we’re also strong proponents of the EU’s “Motorways of the Sea” policy, designed to reduce congestion and pollution on Europe’s overcrowded roads.

As these and other developments shape the face of Northern Europe in the years to come, Unifeeder will continue to keep a progressive course.
